Role Summary: IIn this role, the Field Service Engineer with be a member of the Large Projects CF&E Commissioning team responsible for commissioning custom and extended scope projects at customer sites around the world.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Field Engineer, you will:
Support commissioning and construction of custom and extended scope projects including Brine Concentrators, Crystallizers, UF, RO, and Clarifier units by ensuring process equipment and control system perform per specifications
Liaison between GE engineering and customers during the construction and commissioning of water treatment systems
Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer's sites
Setup PLC equipment
Work with the customer to complete electrical (I/O) checks and controls testing
Manage activities of outside vendors and suppliers, assuring services and supplies met project specifications and performance requirements
Develop Standard Operating Procedures and log sheets to document and monitor equipment operation
Develop and execute classroom and hands-on training regarding operation and maintenance of process equipment
Participate in Model Reviews, Engineering Design Meetings and Safety in Design reviews in order to ensure accessibility, maintenance, and operation of process equipment
Perform control system factory acceptance tests with Clients and client-designated representatives
Perform after-market services such as site inspection, equipment inspection and operator training
Travel in support of domestic and international projects; anticipated travel 65 to 75%
Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards
Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages
Bachelor’s Degree (OR a School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in power plants, chemical process facilities or wastewater treatment plants)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the commissioning or operation of power plants, chemical process facilities or wastewater treatment plants
Ability and willingness to Travel in support of domestic and international projects, 70% of the time, as required; Travel will require multi-week trips to customer sites around the world. The site assignments may involve accommodations at remote work camps. Many water treatment facilities are located outside and work activities will be outdoors.
Ability and willingness to work remotely
Operating experience with water treatment equipment including; evaporators, crystallizers, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, ultra-filtration, clarification and conventional filtration
DCS or PLC programming experience
Strong problem solving skills, detail-oriented
Ability to write procedures, and manuals that conform to prescribed style and format
Strong organizational, communication and PC skills
Training in Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures
Experience with power plant, chemical process facility or wastewater treatment plant construction and commissioning
Possess basic water treatment chemistry knowledge and be able to communicate that information to others
Basic knowledge of plant equipment including: rotating equipment, centrifugal pumps, chemical addition pumps, instrumentation, and control valves
