Essential Responsibilities: Responsible for advanced power systems engineering assignments involving software development and/or delivery in a designated technical area in support of projects. Responsible for advanced software development and successful delivery of assigned functions to meet corporate project/product commitments. Work includes: functional software specifications, design, coding, testing, integration, customer testing and delivery. Perform software design while ensuring system criteria are met. Act as technical lead on specification, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software for one or more functions of a technical area. Consults with other technical leads to ensure that project-related system design guidelines are being followed. Responsible for writing Functional Software Designs. Provide input to technical lead on schedules and cost estimates. Interface with customers on general and specific issues within area of functional expertise. Provide marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to potential customers. Ensure quality assurance standards and procedures are followed in all aspects of software development. Mentor interns and junior staff.
Qualifications/Requirements: The primary requirements are a Master’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Power Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Operation Research, or Electrical Engineering, and seven (7) years of related experience in related occupation. Alternatively, a PhD degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Power Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Operation Research, or Electrical Engineering, and four (4) years of related experience in related occupation are acceptable. The position also requires four (4) years development or project delivery experience in related field; some experience with programming skills in C++, Java, and database operation; some experience with the EMS and/or Market System software; some experience with utility industry practices; some experience with software design and functional design at the application and technical area level; some experience with integration issues and precluding schedule impacts; some experience writing professional and technical reports and procedures, and making formal and informal presentation to technical and non-technical staff and customers; some experience with Optimization modeling application, optimization modeling software AIMMS, optimization solver Cplex or GUROBI; some experience with Windows and Linux; some experience with e-terra Transmission, e-terra Market, e-terra Habitat, e-terra Source, e-terra DERMS, e-terra DRMS (now known as eterraDrBizNet); and some experience with software engineering skill such as agile, Scrum, Waterfall.
