    Role Summary:
    Reporting to GE’s Chief Technology Officer, you will be accountable for aligning the function’s strategic vision with its information technology that supports all GE Shared Services, including all Finance and HR for GE globally. This newly created role will have a major impact across the entire organization, developing and implementing an application, architecture and business strategy for Shared Services.

    Essential Responsibilities:
    As our new Chief Enterprise Architect for our core infrastructure team (CoreTech) you will:
  • Design software and infrastructure roadmaps for Finance IT and HR Systems to define the next generation of technology for the functions.
  • Influence and contribute to technology strategic planning across CoreTech and the GE Store, in partnership with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and senior technical leadership.
  • Grow our CTO community from being Infrastructure focused to add software and architecture expertise.
  • Have architectural oversight for an extensive application portfolio including numerous ERPs; develop a program to identify and consolidate or sunset applications as appropriate, including creating a strategy for moving applications to the cloud.
  • Lead by example driving engineering expertise across the full stack GE technology portfolio
  • Influence and build the architecture strategy and best practices for GE’s supporting functions and partner across the businesses in close collaboration with our CIOs, CDOs, technology executives and business/customer stakeholders to leverage best practices.
  • Oversee the architecture vision for platform services and the design patterns related to them.
  • Create a forum for innovation with the GE technology community that drives thought leadership around GE’s industrial platforms including analytics, big data, cloud and mobile technologies
  • Identify and champion best practices for engineering and business success with Cloud / Software Defined Infrastructure based technology and deployment models.
  • Develop deep understanding of GE infrastructure requirements with the experience and acumen to accelerate portfolio advancements, convergence and delivery.
  • Develop and drive a technical community across the CTO organization that fosters innovation, agile design and test methodology, flexible teaming, knowledge sharing and talent transformation.
  • Provide leadership, inspiration and guidance to a growing team; foster a culture of transparency, collaboration and innovation; hire and retain exceptional talent.

    Major personal performance objectives for this role in the first 12 months are:

  • Define an architecture/technology transformation roadmap for GE supporting functions (Finance IT, HR IT) with detailed execution plans with a focus on cloud migration.
  • Build and develop a global team comprised of both internal and external talent.
  • Establish architecture and technology roadmap alignment with GE Digital and centralized Infrastructure team.
  • Establish best practices, operational governance and review process with the CTO/CEA comunity.
  • Drive thought leadership and influence the implementation of technology solutions and systems that support GE’s Predix and GE Store strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and promote cloud related research, partnerships, and acceleration initiatives.


    Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in software engineering/enterprise architecture/information technology across multiple products, systems and/or platforms coupled with business acumen.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience leading multi-discipline technical teams with international reach across multiple service types.
  • Minimum 6 years working in solutions design and architecture delivering industrial or comparable solutions at scale.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in web-based applications, middle-tier services, database, storage, distributed computing, virtualization and/or application technology migrations, in addition to 4+ years’ experience driving and executing Cloud and digital technology strategies.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel approximately 20-30% of the time.

  • Experience delivering solutions to P&L CIO leadership
  • Proven track record working with technical, customer and functional teams
  • Experience driving requirements and designs integrating within customer’s operational landscape including plant and field applications.
  • Proven success in working globally in a global matrix organization across teams and cultures.
  • Passionate about technology with the pragmatism necessary to solve customer problems and deliver value.
  • Experience in delivering industrial platforms or horizontal software middleware.
  • Ability to identify new approaches to complex design problems (federated identity, complex event processing, embedded real-time and cooperating ecosystems, etc.).
  • Knowledge of technologies including HTML5/JavaScript, JSON, Spring, RESTful services, public Cloud services, etc.
  • Ability to influence non-technical aspects of technology change (e.g. business and operational architectures).
  • Hands-on experience in multi-generation technology planning, convergence and rationalization.
  • Strong at teaching, coaching and mentoring engineers and other functions.
  • Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills.
