Role Summary: Active member of the Dowty Propellers EHS team to assist with the Dowty Recovery Process and sustainability of EHS Programs operational across all sites within the UK business entity. This is a fixed-term contract for a period of 20 months and will be based primarily at the Mitcheldean site, with travel to our facility in Gloucester.
Reporting to the EHS Leader the EHS Graduate shall work within a multidisciplinary team providing a customer service approach across the business. They shall demonstrate a good understanding of Environment, Health & Safety management within a manufacturing environment.
In this role, they will utilize their experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. The position offers an opportunity to develop and enhance basic skills in EHS supported by day to day shop floor engagement, specific project work and a formalised training programme.
Specific responsibilities shall include but not limited to: • With the ability to travel across the operational sites provide technical advice on Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) issues by providing input to risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work. • In support of the EHS Team be a conduit for EHS advice and support to manufacturing and engineering teams. • Instrumental in the development of safety programmes in response to identified hazards and risks, working closely with business stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and embedding of such programmes; including implementation of EHS Framework 2.0 • Represent the EHS department at meetings and GEAPS and other supply chain operational workshops • Develop and provide education programs related to specific disciplines • Based around specific project work, hold technical discussions with suppliers and third parties as required to effect EHS compliance systems • Develop an in-depth knowledge of existing and proposed regulations • Participate as a key functioning EHS team member in support of the EHS Programs at various locations such as LOTO audits, housekeeping inspections, and EHS program audits • Commit to further professional development through internal and external learning events
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge and experience (or a high school diploma /, however, candidates who hold a minimum of NEBOSH General Certificate, who can demonstrate a willingness to continued professional development would be deemed suitability qualified. • For those candidates with a higher qualification in EHS studies some experience of working within a manufacturing environment would be preferred.
