Role Summary: The Application Engineer Flow/Gas & Moisture Products works within Commercial Operations. The CAE is a subject matter expert on their assigned product line and is focused on technical support, customer proposal preparation and other technical activities within the Inquiry to Order (ITO) process. The CAE is specifically responsible for the technical content and risk mitigation in preparation of proposals in response to customer Request for Quotations.
Essential Responsibilities: The CAE’s principal work activities relate to the Bid/No Bid decision, development of high quality proposal scope as well as technical order acceptance and project hand-off to the execution team.
In the role of Application Engineer Flow/Gas & Moisture Products, you will:
Specifies, configures and/or designs appropriate product offering to meet customer’s process and instrumentation requirements
Reviews customer’s technical specifications, including formal RFQ's (Request for Quote), working closely with Commercial Managers to prepare detailed proposals for competitive solutions
Define all special product requirements in support of quotation generation and order acceptance
Primary contact for pre-sale technical and application support for customers and field sales force
Supports Sales team with technical meetings, presentations, demonstrations, etc at customer sites
Performs detailed technical review on new project orders, working closely with Commercial Managers, Project Engineers and Project Managers to ensure smooth and timely transition to Supply Chain for effective order execution
Provides post sale application troubleshooting and support of existing equipment
Provides support to Product Management & Sales teams during product line and application training sessions
Communicates important market trends and voice of the customer information back to the business as input for business strategy and product development
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited university or college
Ability and willingness to travel periodically, as required, typically less than 10%”
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Chemical or Mechanical from an accredited college or university preferred
Mature self-starter – able to work with minimal supervision
Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills
Team player, with ability to effectively interface with multiple functional teams
Strong customer orientation with direct customer contact experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Minimum 1 years of experience with process/industrial instrumentation
