Bit Stew is an innovator in smart energy. Our game-changing software platform, Mix Core Platform, helps utilities, deploy, manage and optimize smart grids. Role Summary: Bit Stew is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer for its growing Cloud Operation team. This role will be key in evolving the cloud infrastructure for the QA/staging/production environment. The successful candidate should demonstrate high skill level and passion for building and running scalable systems. This position reports to the Director, Cloud Operations.
Essential Responsibilities: • Build automation to provision environments and applications • Build or leverage existing tools to automate production and non-production deployments • Enable faster product delivery and time-to-market • Promptly provide support to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex Integration and/or environmental issues • Create monitoring solutions and instrument applications to provide insights into performance and to understand emerging issues • Identify enhancements to improve stability or performance of integration processes • Pro-actively monitor environment and application health for potential issues and take action to preserve SLAs • Document respective configurations, processes and procedures • Provide technical assistance for code builds and deployments • Monitor assigned systems for security and performance on a daily basis • Administer, update and tune existing production and non-production infrastructure
Qualifications/Requirements: • 1+ years’ DevOps experience • 1-2 years’ experience in Linux system administration • 1-2 years’ development experience using Agile development methodologies • 1+ years’ experience with automation/configuration management using SaltStack, Cheff, Puppet, Bamboo or an equivalent • Some experience in one of Python, TerraForm • Working knowledge of AWS suite of services such as EC2, S3, VPC, EIP, CodeDeploy, etc. • Experience with tuning Linux systems, JVM, Application services • Experience with Build/CI tools - Jenkins, Bamboo, GIT • Experience with network and file protocols including HTTP, SFTP, XML, HTML, etc. • Experience with testing and debugging live systems • Experience with Load Balancers such as BigIP and ELB • Willingness and demonstrate ability to learn new technologies and skills quickly • Solid understanding of server architectures, operating systems & application resource utilization • Ability to take ownership of issues and drive them to resolution, strong problem-solving skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills
