We're looking for a "swiss army knife": someone who "gets" electronics and computer technology from top to bottom.
In this role, you'll lead the connection of mfg. machines and tooling into the GE Brilliant Factory database infrastructure. You'll develop the cross-machine and cross-factory standards for PLC communication and connectivity.
You'll collaborate with factory technical resources to execute tooling connectivity including activities for virtual mfg.; sensor-enabled mfg. technologies, as well as factory and supply chain optimization.
Work independently on components of larger network segments
Perform incident troubleshooting, change implementation, vendor relationships, and problem analysis
Contribute to the team on a variety of projects to deliver high quality results
Interpret program strategy & translate into actionable activities at a factory level
Develop the technical standards by which factories will connect their machines and tools
Coordinate and execute the connection of machines and tools to the GE Network at a plant level
Collaborate with the Lean and Fastworks labs to develop standards for new machines and tooling
Establish a cross factory change control process and ensure its integration into the business
Provide advanced support to the Controls & Connectivity Technician at the factories
Collaborate and partner with the larger Aviation Brilliant Factory team, the Global Research Center (GRC), the GE Software CoE and other industry leaders to develop and execute strategic initiatives
Drive operational excellence, develop and implement best practices including the enablement of the Brilliant Factory initiatives from the Value Stream Brilliant Factory Leader
Bachelor’s degree in a computer science, engineering, electrical engineering, or electronic discipline from an accredited university or college (or High School diploma / GED in combination with at least 10 years of experience in network engineering and / or PLC programming)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering in a manufacturing (shop floor) environment
Strong collaboration skills: ability to work with other network ops engineers and cross-functional peers
Strong communication skills: clear written and verbal communication
Ability to collaborate with SME's
Ability to collaborate effectively with (and learn from) other network ops employees, and other individuals within the business, to drive outcomes
Self-motivated and passionate about learning new technologies
Strong understanding of network terminology, troubleshooting concepts, and layer 1 -3 connectivity
Basic understanding of how compute / applications interact with the network
Strong understanding of how to troubleshoot / triage network related issues
Strong understanding of how to configure network devices
Strong understanding of IP address management
Ability to learn to use network tools to aid in troubleshooting / monitoring the network
Ability to work to deadlines and think critically about the task at hand
Strong understanding of routing / switching / wireless technologies
Basic understanding of complex technologies like firewalls, IPS, load balancing
Ability to understand network utilization / analysis to manage network capacity
CCNA or equivalent certification & working towards CCNP
Advanced PLC knowledge
Database & SQL Reporting knowledge / experience
Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g. Spotfire) knowledge and experience
Ability to lead and support multiple projects simultaneously
Clear thinking, inclusiveness and collaboration skills
