Role Summary: The Machinery Diagnostics Field Engineer (MD FE) plays a key role for our customers by providing expert advice on their problems stemming from the operation of their machinery. While our core competency is vibration analysis, we may use oil analysis, thermography, current analysis or investigation into operating conditions to provide our customers with recommendations on correction.
Essential Responsibilities: Diagnose machinery problems based upon: vibration data, operational data, and customer communications React to customer required travel in a timely manner, while bringing all required diagnostic equipment Complete documentation of findings / recommendations Maintain professional communications with customer and other team members Perform asset management studies Prepare timely work order requests, quick quotes and invoicing packages Assess job site safety Understand T&C commitments MDS customer technical training, sales support, and other assigned relative jobs
Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Knowledge of rotating machinery diagnostics Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel in Chinese Good report written in English Minimum of 2 years of vibration analysis or 5 years industry (energy and/or oil & gas) experiences Ability and willingness to travel on short notice, up to 80%, as required Ability and willingness to work under stressful working conditions including Wind towers and offshores
Desired Characteristics: Green Belt Certified (GE Employees only) Project management skills Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office software Mechanical troubleshooting skills with a "Hands-on approach" Demonstrate authority and assurance dealing with people Ability to read, interpret, and understand mechanical prints Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and controls systems Knowledge of machinery protection and management systems Knowledge of Bently Nevada products and services Basic familiarity with computer network systems
