Role Summary: In this role of Senior Procurement Manager, you will develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. In this role, you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope, utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others and can effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Senior Procurement Manager, you will:
Supervise a team of 15 Planner / Buyers
Interview, recommend hire, train, and assign department staff
Provide direction and mentoring. Develop and communicate performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of staff, both as a department and individually
Evaluate performance and provide counseling and coaching to employees
Develop and implement staffing plans and related budgets
Track, measure, and report on all established metrics, determine root causes of unfavorable results, develop and execute corrective actions, and communicate such activities to management as required
Establish and manage procedures that ensure Buyer / Planners maintain appropriate material master settings to drive appropriate MRP recommendations
Understand and coach employees on how to evaluate stock and forecast levels to maximize on time delivery while managing cash
Work with Production Scheduling, Warehouse Management, and Sourcing Leadership to plan inventory levels of finished goods, raw materials and sub-assemblies to meet company goals for OTD, asset management, and profitability
Investigate actual and impending material shortages and analyze root causes to resolve issues
Serve as a primary point of escalation when vendors fail to meet expectations. Resolve such issues to maximize the attainment of the company’s long term objectives
Provide leadership in maximizing the use of business systems (MRP software) and the development of raw material policies and procedures, risk mitigation strategies, and the continuous improvement of related business processes
Collaborate with and influence others in a constructive manner
Be the subject matter expert in Materials Management functionality
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum 5 years of experience in planning and/or procurement using an MRP system manufacturer
Minimum 7 years in Operations and/or Sourcing
Minimum 2 years managing employees of 5 or greater
Ability to identify and implement process improvements and best practices
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong negotiation skills
Knowledge of shop operations, production control, manufacturing and materials functions
Strong analytical skills; ability to mine data from systems, building queries, and building repeatable processes for answering business questions
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and proven ability to motivate others
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Master’s degree, MBA from an accredited college or university in a supply chain or business related field
Minimum 4 years of planning and/or procurement experience using an MRP system at a discreet manufacturer of durable goods
Minimum 4 years managing planning and/or procurement employees
APICS CPIM and/or CSPC certification
Experience in SAP in a planning and/or procurement role
