Role Summary: The role is a critical part of the Accounting Centre of Excellence in Europe reporting into the European Accounting CoE Work Stream Leader. The Accounting CoE Financial Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the US GAAP balances and transactions under their remit are accounted for consistently, compliantly and as efficiently as possible across all European entities under the CoE’s remit.
• Responsible for the process design, accounting & controls for a number of balances of the sites managed by the European Accounting CoE • Responsible for maintaining detailed understanding of the balance sheet, management of the more technical areas and ensure all risks and opportunities on the balance sheet are identified and managed accordingly • Assist the Accounting CoE Work Stream Leader to identify and eliminate accounting differences across sites, define best practice and support the general controllership process of each including project work where required • Supporting the European Accounting CoE and Global Operations teams at month ends and quarter ends to close the books in the most efficient manner possible • Engage with a broad range of Finance teams, including other CoEs, business partners and on occasion operational teams in order to ensure the balances under your control are accounted for consistently, compliantly and as efficiently as possible • Delivery of month end reporting process across local accounting systems to tight timescales • Work with other sites to produce consolidated quarterly balance sheet commentaries • Thoroughly analyse & understand balance sheet to drive operating performance in the business • Monthly reconciliations of local ledgers to reported US GAAP ledgers • Preparation and submission of monthly and quarterly Balance Sheet Reconciliations • Write technical papers where required on arising accounting matters • Ad hoc reporting requirements as required • Flexibility to adapt working patterns around key deadlines e.g. Qtr end close
• Degree qualified or relevant work experience or equivalent knowledge and experience • Fully qualified professional accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/QBE) with post qualification experience in a large company or equivalent expertise through relevant work experience • Strong background in Financial Accounting
